A Single Beat - Creating Seamless Collaboration
Most drums are made with plies of wood that are inserted into a mold and joined together with glue. This creates layers in the drum shell, warping of the wood and seams of weakness in the drum's integrity and its sound quality.
The best drums are made from a single piece of wood. This allows the drum to have a relaxed vertical grain, with no warping, no glue and no layers. These drums have a lower fundamental pitch, a cleaner tone and greater projection. A whole set of drums can be made from concentric circles of wood from the same log. This is rare, but highly sought after.
Like a quality drum shell, quality collaboration is seamless. Instead of layers of glue, there is no visible join. You can do this by creating teams with a common purpose, regardless of where the people have come from. When collaborating across internal teams, or across companies, create a fresh identity for the collaboration to give the team unity and a seamless approach.
